 Ideally, mail every 1-2 days for the first few days
 someone subscribes so that they get used to receiving
 email from you and recognizing your name. Then
 every 3 days thereafter with a minimum of once
 per week with good content.
 
 3. Testing
 
 Write your e-mail and only send it to a small portion
 of your customer list to make sure that it converts
 clicks before you send it to your entire list.
 
 
 4. Don't Make Them Jump Through Hoops
 
 Never send your *customers* to a landing page or a
 "blatant pitch" and make them opt in to get your info.
 
 They are already on your e-mail list so why would you
 make them subscribe again? Just send them directly
 to the information you promised in your e-mail.

Max Magnani (Acetone), al top su Beatport, con cuore e anima Max Magnani è un artista, un Dj e un produttore, certo, ma è prima di tutto una persona equilibrata. «Sto crescendo come dj e produttore. È una crescita che deriva, credo, dal lavoro e dalla voglia di migliorare la mia musica. Tutta la mia musica parte sempre dai miei gusti e da quello che amo, non dalla smania di arrivare a chissà quali risultati». La carriera di Max Magnani cresce. Max è uno dei dj e produttori di Acetone, la label di Maurizio Nari e Jens Lissat, etichetta italiana che tra i suoi talenti conta prima di tutto Steve Tosi, Michelle C e appunto Max... uno che, come dicevamo, cresce davvero. Non è solo una sensazione. Lo dice una chart oggettiva, quella che Beatstats fa prendendo i risultati degli ultimi 12 mesi nella sezione Funky House di Acetone. Magnani è al sesto posto della top ten, dietro a mostri sacri come Block and Crown, Crazibiza... e i colleghi Nari e Steve Tosi. Qual è la cosa più importante per un dj in console, il cuore o la tecnica? Il cuore, senza dubbio. Nel mio lavoro, devi metterci l'anima, la tua anima. Anche quando proponi musica in un evento privato, ovvero quando logicamente devi sapere cosa le persone si aspettano. Proprio venerdì scorso ho fatto un DJ set durante una festa privata per un cinquantesimo: c'erano soprattutto persone tra i 40 e i 60 anni. Ho preparato una playlist anni '80 e '90 ricca di hit clamorose, ma non ho certo usato solo quella. In un contesto come quello, oltre al mio sound, che è davvero molto vario, ho inserito una ventina di minuti di musica italiana... e sono riuscito a tenerli tutti in pista a ballare tutto il tempo. Il ruolo di noi DJ è anche questo, anzi soprattutto questo. Che differenza c'è tra una serata in un club e una festa privata? Iniziamo col dire che anche una serata in un club non è una scienza esatta. Mettere cinque hit una in fila all'altra per essere il più popolare possibile alla fine stanca. Io che devo divertirmi prima di tutto io, altrimenti diventa noioso anche per gli altri. Proporre due ore di sole hit è fin troppo semplice, ma se poi devi continuare, cosa fai? Bisogna saper creare un'onda, dosare l'energia senza spingere subito al massimo. Il filo conduttore della serata nasce sul momento, sia nei club, sia durante gli eventi. Come produttore fai delle scelte che sembrano controcorrente, poi però i risultati arrivano. Eccome. È vero, succede prima di tutto perché il mio background non si limita ai club, alle feste private o alla sola musica commerciale. Ho sempre ascoltato di tutto e mi piace tutto. Solo spaziando a 360 gradi ti possono venire le ispirazioni migliori. In più, non mi pongo limiti: se un pezzo mi piace, anche se non è prettamente house, lo suono lo stesso. Il mio è un lavoro che alla fine ripaga sempre. Come produttore, mi dà grande soddisfazione che quasi tutte le mie tracce raggiungano il "paginone centrale" di Beatport. Non come tracce sponsorizzate, ma segnalate dallo staff. Quanto contano le chart? Cme tutti gli artisti, ho il mio ego e vorrei vedere i miei pezzi sempre in cima a ogni classifica. In fondo però non è la cosa più importante. Quello che conta davvero è il lavoro collettivo che facciamo con il team di Acetone sulla musica. Tante volte una traccia mi sembra chiusa al 90%, poi mi confronto con Maurizio Nari che mi dice: "Senti questo suonino, se lo mettiamo così è meglio". Il valore aggiunto della collaborazione ci sarà sempre. La Funky House come genere sembra essere davvero in crescita, nel mondo. A volte è anche una questione di termini, forse potremmo chiamarla semplicemente house. In certe situazioni, ad esempio nei rooftop party, a New York, va fortissimo la funky house. Persino in festival come il Tomorrowland o il Coachella si sente la classic house o la new dance, senza quei drop "infernali" tipici dell'EDM. È un'evoluzione nella tradizione: una classic house con un groove di basso coinvolgente, che però si distacca da quel kick tech ripetitivo. Artisti come gli ANOTR sono bravissimi a creare hit trasversali. Hanno una forte base disco-dance, e si sa, le basi sono fondamentali. È divertente, in fondo, come ancora oggi diverse persone si lamentino dell'uso di sample nella house music, quando in ogni genere musicale copia e ispirazione non sono l'eccezione ma la regola. Il punto è cosa fai con un sample... Noi con Acetone spesso realizziamo brani che omaggiano il sound del passato e lo trasportano nel presente e nel futuro. In generale, chi balla oggi certe sonorità non le "digestisce" più; ha bisogno di re-edit e versioni personali che noi DJ realizziamo per far ballare ogni pubblico. E oggi, in ogni genere musicale, compreso l'hip hop, l'uso dei sample è comune quanto anni fa, l'importante è creare qualcosa di interessante partendo dal passato. Per quel che mi riguarda, cerco sempre di fare delle cose nuove, cerco sempre di non copiare me stesso. Ci vuole più tempo, ci vuole più energia creativa, ma è la mia strada.
