Worries about the Chinese economy and other emerging markets continued to take their toll on commodity prices, pushing theprice of copper to under $5,000 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange for the first time in six years. Brent crude fell to under $47 a barrel. Glencore admitted that it had misjudged the effect that the slowdown in China would have on its business, as the mining and commodity-trading company reported dismal earnings for the first half of the year. Its share price has fallen by 47% so far this year. Business this week | The Economist
