... less than a month after opening in theaters, Star Wars: The Force
Awakens has raked in a record-breaking US$1.75 billion at the box office. The
seventh movie of the epic space opera has hauled in the third-highest
box-office gross of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In coming weeks, The Force Awakens
could outpace James Cameron’s 1997 disaster-romance film Titanic, which holds
the No. 2 spot with US$2.19 billion in ticket sales (Cameron’s sweeping 2009
sci-fi movie Avatar is No. 1, with US$2.79 billion). Disney CEO Bob Iger led the 2012 acquisition of the Star
Wars franchise and the rest of Lucasfilm for US$4 billion, catapulting creator George Lucas’s wealth
into the stratosphere, Lucas is now worth US$5.3 billion ...
